E-mobility in the Alps: Westendorf Mountain Railways invests

da emobil supports mountain railways and tourist regions with well-designed charging solutions, helping them to offer their guests sustainable travel options.
SkiWelt Westendorf has invested in a bespoke charging concept for electric vehicles for the 2024/25 season, thereby implementing one of several sustainability projects. 24 charging stations have been installed in the car park, now offering skiers the ideal infrastructure to fully charge their electric cars whilst enjoying the slopes.
In addition to supplying high-quality hardware, da emobil also ensured the commissioning of the stations, load management and transparent billing at SkiWelt Westendorf. This made it possible to create a user-friendly solution.
Sustainable investment in the future
The custom-made, powder-coated bases for the charging stations are as well-designed as they are ingenious. These were planned and built by the mountain railway management and a local metalworking shop. The weather-resistant, robust design allows for easy snow clearance and much more.
Stefan Grafl, Managing Director of SkiWelt Westendorf, is pleased with the project: “More and more guests are arriving in electric vehicles. That is why it is essential for us to guarantee them a modern, reliable infrastructure. Billing accurate to the kilowatt-hour and the use of renewable energy are key priorities for us.”
The charging stations are very well received by guests from countries with high adoption rates of electric vehicles, such as Denmark and the Netherlands, as well as by day visitors. Sustainability remains a key focus: trees are being planted in the car park, and a solar power system is being installed to supply electricity for the mountain railway and the charging stations.
SkiWelt Westendorf is part of the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental. With over 275 kilometres of slopes and 81 modern mountain railways, it is one of the largest ski resorts in the world. In summer, the lifts provide access to seven unique adventure areas and an idyllic hiker’s paradise.
