Breitfuss Transporte provides charging facilities for electric vehicles, from cars to trucks
Breitfuss Transport GmbH has a clear goal: to transport industrial goods in a CO₂-free manner in the future. Part of this strategy is the gradual electrification of the fleet: six electric lorries are already in daily use, with six more to follow shortly – and perhaps more soon.
To support this development, a state-of-the-art charging park was built at the Kapfenberg site in collaboration with da emobil. A former lorry parking area has been transformed into a spacious carport facility equipped with a high-performance photovoltaic system. A large battery storage system enables the efficient use of the electricity generated on site.
The charging park features two 300 kW compact fast chargers as well as the innovative Alpitronic HYC1000 charging system. Its power unit delivers a total output of 1 megawatt and supplies four dispensers with a total of eight charging points. This allows either a single vehicle to be charged at up to 600 kW or the power to be intelligently distributed across up to eight vehicles simultaneously. Kapfenberg is thus one of the first locations in Austria to feature this system.
The charging park is also open to the public. Thanks to its location right next to the S6 motorway exit, it is easily accessible for both cars and heavy goods vehicles. A total of 12 charging points are available.
da emobil has been supporting the project since the planning phase in early 2024 and, in addition to the hardware, provides a range of other services, including:
The grid connection, PV system and battery storage are designed to allow for future expansion – a clear commitment to long-term planning security.
The location of the charging park presented a particular challenge: the site is situated in a marshy or flood-prone area. For safety reasons, all electrical equipment – from distribution boxes and storage units to the charging stations – therefore had to be mounted on raised plinths. Charging stations are usually installed at ground level to ensure barrier-free access and to facilitate servicing and maintenance work. In Kapfenberg, the installation could only be carried out using plinth solutions, which are clearly visible in the project photos.
For the management of Breitfuss Transport GmbH, the project is more than just an infrastructure initiative, as Florian Breitfuss emphasises: “We are looking to the future and we want to do something good. This is how we contribute.”
